February 4, 1951 ~ September 2, 2023 (age 72) 72 Years Old
Matthew Bromiley, a loving husband, father, brother, and esteemed member of his community, passed away peacefully on September 02, 2023 at 04:50 in his home in Pompano Beach, FL, at the age of 72. His battle with pancreatic cancer had been long and arduous, but he faced it with unwavering strength, determination and positivity.
Matthew was born on February 4, 1951, at the renowned John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. He spent his formative years in Toronto, Canada, before eventually settling in Ottawa after his return from Vietnam. In 1968, Matthew joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served his country with honor until his honorable discharge in 1970. Following his military service, Matthew pursued higher education, graduating from Carleton University in Ottawa with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science.
Matthew embarked on a successful career at National Defense in Ottawa. However, he eventually shifted gears and embraced a new path as a real estate investor, entering into a family business managing and owning their own properties. In 2017, Matthew relocated with his family to Pompano Beach, Florida, where he continued to pursue his passion for real estate.
Known for his adventurous spirit, Matthew had a profound love for exotic travel and sports. He possessed an extensive knowledge of world history, politics, and current affairs, earning him the endearing nickname of the "talkative encyclopedia." Matthew's engaging conversations attracted crowds, and his ability to captivate listeners was unmatched. His kind and gentle demeanor made him a true gentleman, and he cherished the moments spent sharing a beer with friends and colleagues at the officer messes.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Matthew's most cherished role was that of a dedicated family man. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 32 years, Randa Bromiley, née Whebe-Chedid, and their two children, Kristen and Alexander Bromiley. He is also survived by his brother, Dr. Philip Bromiley, sister-in-law Helene Bromiley, nephew Michael Bromiley, and niece Roxanne Bromiley. Matthew's love and guidance will forever be treasured by his family.
To honor Matthew's life and memory, a celebration of his life will take place on Wednesday, September 13th at Baird-Case Jordan-Fannin Funeral Home and Cremation Service, located at 4343 N. Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33308. Visitation from 10am -11am will precede the funeral service at 11am. Matthew will be laid to rest with a Marine veteran burial at the South Florida National Cemetery at 2pm in Lake Worth, Florida, located at 6501 South State Rd 7.
