John Paul Aydinian was born in New York City in 1925. One of four brothers, John grew up in the borough of Queens where he resided until leaving to attend the Merchant Marine Academy in Baltimore. After graduating, he joined the merchant marine as an officer in June 1943 and served on ships supporting the war effort in Southeast Asia. Post war, he left the service to pursue opportunities in the private sector. However, his country had further need of him and he was drafted into the army during the Korean conflict. Honorably discharged, he returned to New York where he married and raised a family.
John worked as a Linotype operator for the New York Daily News. He would work there for over 30 years before retiring and enjoying his over three decades in Lauderdale by the Sea, Florida.

John is survived by his children, Annette Gannon (Thomas), Linda Baker, Paul Aydinian and six grandchildren.
