Gail Ann Heekin

The world lost a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on May 12, 2023, when Gail Ann Heekin passed away in Pompano Beach, Florida. 
 
Gail was born on May 24, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois, to Arthur and Adelaide Stack and was the youngest of their two daughters. After graduating from Notre Dame High School for Girls in 1961, she met Robert, and the two were married on January 23, 1965, in Chicago. They had three children: Denise, Robert, and Daniel before moving to Florida in 1979.  Gail and Robert were married for over 58 years before her passing. Gail retired from JCPenney after working there for over 30 years. Gail was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved spending time with family, enjoyed baking, and was an avid reader. 
 
Gail was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Adelaide, and her sister, Christine Stokes. Gail is survived by her husband, Robert; their children, Denise M. Heekin (Richard W. Gagnon), Robert J. Heekin (Cynthia M. Heekin), and Daniel J. Heekin (Trinidad L. Perez); grandchildren, Erin M. Markoe (Richard F. Markoe), Robert T. Heekin, Patrick R. Heekin, Brittney J. Companion (Ryan Companion); and great-grandchildren, Robert Velez, Emmett Markoe, and Charlotte Companion.
 
Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service for Gail at Baird-Case Funeral Home on North Federal Highway in Fort Lauderdale on Wednesday, May 17, from 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, May 18, at 11:00 a.m. at Assumption Catholic Church in Pompano Beach, to be followed by her entombment at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
 
Gail will be remembered as a loving woman who brought joy to all those around her. Her generous spirit, sense of humor and tales will live on through all those she touched throughout her life. We take comfort knowing that she is reunited with her parents and sister in Heaven above
