William James "Bill" Hubly, 81, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, passed away on April 4, 2024. Bill was born on September 28, 1942, in Battle Creek, Michigan. He was known for his kindness, love, dedication to family and friends, and his capacity to have fun.
He attended Fremont Elementary School and Howe Military School before graduating from Lakeview High School in Battle Creek in 1960 and going on to attend Michigan State University.
Bill had a broad career, holding positions in the financial services, insurance, and contracting industries with companies in California, Ohio, and Florida. In his free time, Bill enjoyed sailing on the San Francisco Bay, exploring the mountains of North Carolina, and taking walks along the ocean in South Florida. He was an avid reader, played golf, and traveled.
Bill is survived by his daughter Jeanette Hubly, nephew Michael Dryden Hubly (Marta), niece Healey Hubly Young (David), cousin Sharon Healey Bartholomew (Bart), cousin C. F. Gorman III (Melinda), and numerous other members of the Hubly, Healey, and Marks families. He was preceded in death by his father Dr. James Worden Hubly, mother Lenore Healey Hubly, brother John Anthony Hubly, and sister Linda Ryan Hubly.
Memorial services for Bill have not been planned at this time.
Bill will be buried in the Hubly family plot in Memorial Park Cemetery in Battle Creek, Michigan.
His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
